Tennis ace Maria Sharapova gave the world a curve ball with this picture, posted on Facebook. Apparently, she traded in her long locks for a new, shorter style. Later, however, she revealed it was only a wig! Still, it gives us a chance to check her out in short hair…and she looks great!

We think it helps Maria be a little more punk, have a bit more edge. Aesthetically speaking, the soft asymmetry helps to open up her face, lifting cheekbones and chin, lips and eyes. Tousled, not slick, it’s more East Village beatnik than tennis pro on the go.

What to do on days you need something different and new? Wear an inventive side ponytail of course! As well as a gorgeous bronzy blonde color tone, Taylor Swift makes this style extra special by using a hair strand in lieu of elastic –– so creative, so chic and cool. Whether you wear this look day or night, always add a little shine spray on the bangs to give them bedazzle, which will draw more attention to the window to the soul –– flickering eyes.

With her innate sense of fashion and style, Bonnie Barton of Flashes of Style is one of our favorite bloggers. One thing she is famed for is her hair –– she often gets requests to tell her readers her secrets. But if there is a secret, it is that there is no secret –– only smart choices.  The classic feminine look –– long layers, soft side part with sweeping bangs –– is made all the more marvelous because of the healthy and lustrous condition of her hair.

And the style –– which is the epitome of ‘wash and go’ –– is made chic yet playful by the right product choices. We love the way the cut frames Bonnie’s face, and we adore how she uses the natural wave in her hair to create some on-trend magic.
