One of the hottest –– and certainly the bravest –– hair color trends of spring and summer is blue. Today we invite Senior Colorist at ARROJO studio, NYC, Mariesa Ferraro, to walk us through the top hair trends at Cannes Film Festival…

Despite the glamor and the glitz, Cannes Film Festival is, for me, more about the hair, the makeup, and the dresses than the movies! This year, hair on the red carpet followed a recurring theme of vintage glamor looks. From updos to waves these Hollywood starlets were channelling old Hollywood with perfectly polished, urbane hair, and understated makeup looks. It sounds simple, but the overriding theme was pretty and feminine, with a nod to the past. Next time you have a special occasion to go to, watch an old movie and use the leading lady’s hair as inspiration for your distinctive ‘do.

Miss Pandora is a French Fashion blogger who gives credence to France’s reputation for an innate sense of fashion and beauty, style and class. Here she looks delicate and light in a way that seems almost too perfect for this world, and so much of that is portrayed in her exquisite hairstyle. A classic long layer with bangs, it is the color and the styling that makes it special. The delectable copper hue is earthy, natural, yet powerful. And the way she has created spirals of style is gorgeous. Ornate headband accessory: optional.

With Mulberry championing pastel-gelato color shades with their new candy-inspired campaign, it’s fair to say the most fashion-forward hair color accent right now is a soft pastel pink-on-blonde. And January Jones has jumped on trend! She’s got the natural coloring that is perfect for luscious golden blonde, and now she has vamped it up with this soft, peachy-pink sorbet hue. We think this is a great accent for flaxen tones, and a stylish way to update your look for spring and summer.
