At the Madrid Premiere of Skyfall, the new James Bond movie, Ana de Armas reminded us of the timeless beauty of hairstyles that are tousled, sexy and full. Her hair appears thick and long and luscious, which is a great way to be, but it can lead to excessive volume, or out of control styles. Here, however, the heavily layered cut puts freedom and movement into the style, which keeps it looking soft and bouncy and natural. The shimmering dirty blonde hue makes a remarkable match with Ana’s tantalizing, unique eye color.

This post is an original piece by ARROJO Cosmetology School Educator, Laura Martin, depicting the real life process of turning brassy blonde into fabulous flaxen.

Natural blondes love to brighten their shade with highlights. Over time, however, fair-toned accents can build into an allover lighter color that looks brassy and dull. Returning to a more natural look is a challenging process, but one synonymous with salon services. In the hands of a skilled colorist, a tint back service returns shine, improves hair health, and provides an even, beautiful tone. I demonstrated this process for my class last week; we used a filler to prime hair before applying a cool blonde tone all over to create a flattering, uniform color. Click through style notes for my tips on making this difficult service a beautifying success.
