Ombre –– the graduation of shade from dark to light –– splits hair color lovers in two. On the one hand, there are those that love the sensational melting effect of multi-tone effects; on the other, there are those who find it passé (ombre has been in the big cities for a few years now) or garish. With this debate, we will do well to remember hair is an accessory to enhance your natural charms –– if ombre helps you beautify, do it.  This image is a great example. Classic long length with chocolate-caramel to wheat-blonde ombre is pretty, vivid, dynamic and attractive. It can be used to brighten features while spotlighting texture for a perfect modern style. Sarah Hyland stole our hearts as part of America’s most Modern Family and, as she grows up, she’s becoming a maestro of style too. Seen here on the red carpet of the Lifetime premiere, Call Me Crazy: A Five Film, she pairs an elegant ensemble with a hairstyle with all the working parts: A scintillating copper-toned hue fits her complexion beautifully; the blunt bangs, powerful and dramatic, draw attention to eyes; and long layers sweep in toward her jaw-line for a structured face-frame, and continue down the shoulders for a soft finish. To top it off, a hint of a bouffant at the crown nods to the sixties trend, adds a retro feel, and just the right amount of height. For tips on shaping similar looks, click style notes.
