Claire, a stylist for Verb Hair Products, sent us this laid back look at bohemian summer style. We love the way the models and their hair have that desirable free-spirited vibe –– insouciant, easy-going, breezy and fresh. One of the best things about these styles is styling them is equally loose and liberal; all you have to do is use your favorite texture-enhancing products and scrunch and tousle and play with hair as you dry, creating an imperfect, negligent tumble quivering with sex appeal. Claire sent us her styling tips, too, so for her professional insight, click style notes.

Summer is a time for simplicity –– less makeup, less clothing, less fuss. Warmer weather makes us feel lighter, breezier, softer; and fashion follows suit with brighter colors, softer fabrics, and looser lines. An unkempt updo is the perfect complement to carefree ensembles and natural makeup. Loose ends and rumpled texture combined with low volume knots and twists have a perfectly imperfect vibe that we love. Read on for complete steps to achieving tousled updos that are ideal for summer. –– Laura Martin

detangled hair

Women and girls with wavy or curly hair face many potential challenges: frizz, dryness, and –– worst of all –– tangles. It’s hard to have great hair if your strands are full of knots and snarls. Over styling, product buildup, wind, heat and humidity can all cause tresses to tangle. Straighter hair types who like to add texture can also suffer from these debilitating effects, making it a common problem, especially in summer when we like hair to be flowing free. So it’s important to take the proper steps to free your locks; for tips and tricks on banishing knots, click through to style notes.  –– Michelle Rotbart

Summer blooms provide endless inspiration for color formulations and combinations. Lilies are my favorite; from the delicate swirl of a Cala to the voluptuous folds of an oriental stargazer, this garden staple offers an understated exotic elegance. The tiger lily is the most popular variety of this genus; its petals come in shades of tangerine and apricot infused with golden warmth. The vibrant tone is just as beautiful on hair as it is on this flower’s satiny petals. Read on for the formulation and tips to getting a perfect match. –– Laura Martin
