Originally developed for wealthy jet-setters traveling to warm climates during winter, resort wear continues to evolve. The styles are now more wearable and versatile, as sought-after vacation destinations became places to live year-round. Much like trending summer hair, resort wear is casual, lightweight, and still fashion-forward. To emphasize the point, for the 2013 season, Stella McCartney, Nina Ricci, and Chloe included loose textured waves as part of their looks. The easy hair is a perfect pairing to the nonchalant, relaxed silhouettes seen in the ensembles. To see our favorite looks from these collections, click through to style notes. –– Michelle Rotbart

A veteran of runway shows, stage presentations, and special occasion hair, Cheryl Fazio, master stylist at ARROJO NYC is on the vanguard of fashion and beauty trends. After hearing many clients ask for ways to wear the trendy side-shave –– an avant-garde, asymmetrical short to long look now worn by movie stars and pop stars and fashionistas –– without being quite so bold as to shave off a whole side of hair, she came up with this artful twist, which combines French braiding with twines on the side with tousled, beachy textures: A combination of trends that creates a beautifully open face frame, and captures the essence of this summer’s most desirable hairstyle aesthetic.
