Amber+Heard+Premiere+Relativity+Media+Paranoia+wrp8OsokoB5x

This is a softly serene, beautiful modern updo from Amber Heard. In the undone fashion, rather than pulling all hair back into the bun, random strands are left free and loose. This creates the carefree disheveled elegance that is so stylish and chic. Spotted here at the ‘Paranoia’ premiere, the off-the-face look is formal enough to remain red carpet appropriate, yet would be just as good out for dinner or dancing in a club. This fashionable style is also easy to create at home, making it a perfect addition to your own style arsenal. For our tips, click style notes.

When I stumbled across this image it reminded me of a Ariel in Disney’s The Little Mermaid. The cartoon has many fascinating qualities, elements of magic, underwater scenery, and mesmerizing shots of long, floating mermaid hair. For Ariel’s mane, I was obsessed. It was bright red, long, tangle-less, and in ceaseless flowing motion. The long crimped hair pictured above combines Ariel’s vibrant color and luxurious length with seaweed texture and a swooped front that adds tumbling motion. Curls are, by nature, wild and unruly. The style of Trop Rouge embraces the frenetic energy of natural texture, encouraging its unkempt aspect. Long layers cut at high elevation provide a soft, rounded shape that structures unruly texture. Graduated brightness that intensifies toward the edges has a sun-dappled quality. Combined with loose, high volume styling, this cut and color are perfectly imperfect. Read on for steps to creating your own wilderness-inspired look. –– Laura Martin
