isabel marant

Fashion week may have come to a close, but my excitement is just starting to simmer. For me, the most anticipated show of the season was Isabel Marant; she’s a favorite among fashion editors, models and those in the know. Her looks are always a cool girl go-to, voguish with a nuance of bohemian chic. Even more exciting than her ready-to-wear frilly chiffon tops mixed with black leather looks, is that the French designer is about to get the H&M fix. Her collection for the fast-fashion retailer is to launch in November and I admit I’ll be the first one camping in front of the store. And how does the Isabel cool girl wear her hair? In mussy waves of course. We’ll have to wait to get the garb but we can already start wearing the hair. Click through to style notes to get the look. –– Michelle Rotbart

Braided updos are a big trend for fall and provide a sturdy base for adding accessories. Twined looks for autumn feature classic three-strand weaves and a smooth finish, replacing the fishtails and wispy tendrils of the summer months with more solid construction. Adorned with feathers, jewels, and precious metals, braided wreaths and crowns have a majestic feeling. A necklace can be easily transformed into a headband for a quick dash of regality. Read on for simple steps to creating this resplendent style. –– Laura Martin
