New York Fashion Week sets the trends for the new season, so this week everyone is glued to the glamor, looking for the next swing of Style’s elusive pendulum. Peter Som’s Body Armour SS14 captured the current mood with non-form-fitting feminine wears that retain the air of high class chic. Confirming the contemporary drift toward high fashion hairstyles that are more undone than done, the accompanying tresses were raw, unrefined, loose. Lead hair designer for the show, Eugene Souleiman, said: “We wanted the hair to feel textured and dirty and to have that feeling that the girl had spent the day at the beach.” Sounds like imperfect, carefree beach hair is still coolest look on the street. It’s something you can do at home. For our tips, click style notes.

This easy sophisticated braid works off the same concept as the milkmaid braid, using two simple three strand brands to control the hair and create a beautiful sophisticated shape. This look is especially useful for layered styles because the braids will keep shorter strands locked firmly into place. AS shown in the two images above it can be styled sleek or messy, making the simple shape easy to customize.
