Drying my hair every morning is part of my routine, and it’s a tough one to break. But I’m growing my length out again and despite frequent trims I can see the toll that my morning drying sessions are taking on my ends. My prediction for the next IT shade to wear is gray based pastels. These mysterious shades are the dark side of whimsical tones. A girl who wears these shades states that she has a bit of an edge. Lauren Bacall passed away last week at the age of 89, leaving behind an impressive career including more than sixty films and a quirky, yet glamorous style that was all her own. When she began acting in the 1940s most other female leads had thin eyebrows and delicate features. Bacall stood out. She wore her part a little deeper, her lipstick brighter, her brows thicker. She refused to fix her slightly crooked teeth or let anyone else do her hair or makeup. The result was a look that was glamorous, but strong, with a touch of rebellion. Her signature style still feels fresh today. Click the style notes to learn about creating her classic look. –– Laura Martin
