Whether you’re into the bold sixties inspired looks that are in for the fall of the soft au naturale feeling that is predicted to take over this spring, center parts are an essential staple. Dividing hair down the middle gives a geometric balance to big blowouts; it also feels like the most natural part to pair with soft waves or earthy texture. We’re seeing this part paired with braids, buns, sleek lengths, and curls. Surprisingly, this division has lots of variations, each with its own vibe. Borrowing from the boys is a common theme among the fashionable elite. An oversize oxford shirt there, a bit of boyfriend denim here….But we’re super excited we spotted the trend within the beauty world––and it feels very new for the upcoming season. At the latest Prada and Marni shows we saw sideburns. Yes, sideburns. According to Marni’s beauty team, the looks were inspired by men’s grooming from the 50s, done in a modern way. The team took a note from The Teddy Boys of the Edwardian Drape Society, a film about rockers in the pubs of London. We heard both Marni and Prada wanted an element of toughness chic for the models, so it’s not wonder the looks were inspired by hair that was sweaty and stuck. Is this the hottest look for the season? Maybe, but it’s definitely the most daring. We bet it’ll look great paired with your favorite t-shirt and leather bomber. The word among fashion industry insiders is that the pastel trend is on its way to fading out, but trendsetters and celebrities show no signs of giving up on softly bright shades. This hue, recently adopted by Orange Is The New Black star Dascha Polanco melds a silvery base with flicks of sky blue and lavender for a muted, shimmering hue reminiscent of a dusky sky. Keep the pastel trend going with the formulas in the style notes.
