The winter air can bring serious dryness to the skin. If you suffer from severe dry patches, it’s best to stick to moisturizing products that will keep the dewy glow going in order to keep the skin looking nice and hydrated. Adding too many powder products can worsen the effect of dry skin and make your makeup appear cakey and chalky. –By Katie McBroom

I love the wet look trend on models, but on me slicked back hair just looks scary. However, just because I can’t pull off scalp-hugging ponytails or severely sleek buns doesn’t mean I have to give up on wet look styles. I just add two things: texture and volume. The resulting look is more wild than sleek, calling to mind a wild animal caught in the rain. Fur, unlike my stick straight hair, doesn’t fall flat at the first sign of moisture, instead it gathers into peicey, wavy sections at the ends while maintaining lift at the roots. It’s an interesting, flattering texture that will transform the way you see wet look styles. Learn to achieve it in the style notes. –– Laura Martin
