While some may think fashion and beauty are all fluff, they actually have strong ties to politics and social issues. For the Marc by Marc Jacobs Fall ’15 collection badass babes stormed the runway to the beat of T. Rex’s “Children of the Revolution.” Their militant outfits of army khakis and studded boots definitely said radical, but for me it was their black studded berets and grungy, unkempt hair that made the connection to activism and revolution. Think Che Guevara, The Guardian Angels, or even Debbie Harry and Johnny Rotten. With a great focus on youth culture and spirit, Luella Bartley and Katie Hillier, the design duo behind the brand, certainly must have girl power on the mind. Check out the video below to see Luella, Style.com’s Tim Blanks, blogger Susie Bubble and others talk about their view on the collection. –– Michelle Rotbart

Looped styles create a pretty fan shape that can be smooth and polished or loose and imperfect. The half-up looks shown here come together in minutes; they work for long lengths or chin length crops. Get step-by step instructions in the style notes. –– Laura Martin

Karlie Kloss was one of the first women to embrace the bob’s resurgence. Her chop inspired many imitators. In recent months she’s begun to grow out her short shape to a shoulder dusting lob. Her color has evolved too, with the slow addition of blonde highlights which have built into a rich, dimensional gold. Her new look is sunny, feminine, and covetable. Learn how to make it yours in the style notes.
