flowercrowns

For hundreds of years in folklore and history, beautiful maidens donned garlands of freshly picked florals on their heads in celebration of the spring equinox, where they danced to music in open fields to ensure a year of prosperity and fertility. Today, the spring ceremonies are sponsored by Sephora, but the tradition of wearing floral wreathes––now paired with the latest fashion from H&M––lives on. And though every season, I think florals are nothing new, they continue to be revived on the runway and on the festival scene as glorious headpieces in celebration of the new and blooming season. blowback

This hairstyle is the perfect blend of dapper and cool. It looks like you rode your motor cycle to work. The key is to push hair back from the face, but keep the texture loose. It’s sculpted but lived-in. To pull this off you’ll need a classic cut with roughness at the edges and corners so it doesn’t look too freshly trimmed. Then you’re just a dab of cream wax away from perfect cool. Click the style notes to learn more. –– Laura Martin

elle fanning

The Fanning sisters both tend to keep their strands on the paler side of blonde, opting for light golden shades that play up their angelic features. When Elle stepped out in the warm toffee colored shade I was amazed at how the color transformed her. The rich, shiny dark blonde makes her look more mature. By providing a stronger contrast with her skin tone the color enhances her bone structure and stormy blue eyes. Steal her refined take on blonde; get the formula after the break. –– Laura Martin
