summer tools

Warm weather brings a whole host of problems for hair. Leave strands to do their thing and you could be left with a frizzy mess. Wear your hair flat and down and you could feel like it’s way hotter than it actually is. These are just a couple of examples, but I’m sure you can fill in every warm weather problem you have. So what can you do about it? Have a few styling hacks that will make your life a lot easier and keep your hair looking great for a lot longer. Click the notes for all the details. –– Kelly Rowe

sumo knot

I love a good top knot––the ones you casually throw up on the top of your head are just divine. And what do I like even better? The sumo knot, the looped version of a hair knot which I spotted at the Carolina Hererra Spring/ Summer 2015 show. The editorial look is simply amazing, but unless you have some serious, shellac hairspray or major extensions this look isn’t exactly wearable. Luckily there is a way to achieve this style and look perfectly chic all summer long. Click through to style notes to get the details. –– Michelle Rotbart

carey mulligan met gala

I had the special opportunity to attend a preview of China: Through the Looking Glass, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute yesterday. With its 140-plus-piece collection of ready-to-wear, haute couture, traditional Chinese arts and textiles, and films on display, the exhibition is truly spectacular. Paralleling the glamor of the exhibit was the celebrity crowd on the red carpet leading up to The Met Gala last night. It’s great to see true beauty on the red carpet––we certainly need to celebrate something. There were lots of great styles on the scene, everything from polished updos to flowing locks, and even some crazy headware ( I’m talking about you Sarah Jessica Parker).
