hair tuck

Like me, I know many of you are only willing to do the minimum to look great at all times. My main goal in looking great is being nonchalant, comfortable and confident. So when I again spotted the hair tuck look on model Stella Maxwell’s instagram, I knew this was a look to spotlight. This style is a shining example of the fashion world handing us a beauty trick so easy to use, and yet so effective in it’s simplicity, it would be a faux pas not to use it. volume

For those of use that grew up in the eighties and nineties volume means two things: mousse and a big round brush. We’d spend hours sweating away with our dryer on its highest setting and then douse ourselves in aerosol hairspray, hoping it would last. But even your hair is naturally straight and limp like mine it turns out that volume doesn’t necessarily involve a lot of heat or work, in fact I’ve found that volume achieved without heat lasts longer, looks more natural, and has more movement. braid

Rope braids are twisted as they’re plaited, making them more dimensional than other braids, and less prone to flyaways. Adding a few of these braids to a simple bun adds texture and interest. A simple three-strand brand on the opposite side creates subtle asymmetry for a romantic style that appears windblown and loose but has enough support to last through a full day of festivities. Wear it to a wedding, birthday party, or picnic. Get step-by-step instructions in the style notes. –– Laura Martin
