Working out has lots of advantages. You have more energy! You look younger! You feel healthier! But it also comes with challenges, particularly in the realm of hair and beauty. Spending multiple days a week in the gym, at the pool, or being active outdoors exposes your hair to sun, chlorine, or just plain sweat. TOMMY HILFIGER x RAFAEL NADAL Launch Global Brand Ambassadorship
Last week’s tennis match in Bryant Park brought fashion insiders and iconic athletes together to face off in the name of fashion—specifically, Tommy Hilfiger and Rafael Nadal’s new global brand ambassadorship. While I’m a big fan of seeing Rafael play in a suit and tie, it was the model’s couture-worthy ponytails that stole the show. Models Constance Jablonski, Chanel Iman and Hannah Davis all rocked easy slicked-back strands that were as perfect for the court as they are for the runway. It’s a look I’m ready to rock along the sidelines of the US Open, but it’s even great for back-to-school styles. Simply pull hair into a high ponytail, secure, and then wrap a one-inch strand from underneath around the base and pin. This look will be a definitely help you ace the autumn season. Kate Mara’s cuts get a lot of media attention, and for good reason, but her colors, though less dramatic, deserve some accolades as well. I loved her long copper locks on season 1 of House of Cards and the platinum bob with dark roots that followed. And I’m definitely digging her latest hue, a rich warm tone that’s a mix of honey and auburn. The shade matches her eyes almost perfectly, an effect that softens the strong lines of her pixie. This shade is a perfect balance between red and brown, light and dark, making it suitable for almost everyone. Click the style notes to get the formula and tips on application. –– Laura Martin
