victoria beckham

At this time of the year, getting anywhere in a polished style can be a challenge––something I know all too well as I was battling the heat and drizzle on my way to the shows. So leave it to polish…er…posh…er…Victoria Beckham to show incredibly up-town hair that was still incredibly youthful and doable. Her beauty team coiled model’s hair into tight temporary chignons and then released them right before the show to put some body back in. This is a great style trick for those of us commuting in the rain. It protects against frizz and delivers easy waves upon arrival. The season is changing: days are getting shorter, weather cooler, and pastel hair colors are fading away. The fall palette is earthy and muted, a rough pairing for soft rainbow hues. But not to fear, there are still ways to wear your favorite shades into the Fall. The key is anchoring them with more natural hues. These techniques will carry your favorite pale hues through fall and winter beautifully. Click the style notes to see examples of each technique. –Laura Martin

surreal red

You know that red that reminds you of Ariel from the little mermaid? It’s super bright, neither coppery or violet, just pure vibrant cherry. It’s so vivid it appears to generate its own light. It’s a dream color, a fantasy shade. Well, now you can get it for real. Click the notes for the professional formula.

70s 4

After days of meh hair and no-makeup makeup at the early rounds of the collections, Diane Von Furstenberg finally brought us some supermodel beauty glamour—inspired by herself. The hair and makeup were heavily influenced by Diane in her Studio 54 heydey with nods to the high-spirited ‘70s nightlife. The beauty team created the disco hair by prepping each catwalker’s hair with gel and setting the length with a curling wand before pinning in place. Thirty minutes before the show, the hair was brushed out to kinky perfection and topped with a floral hair accessory. Curls and exotic florals? Count me in! It’s not to late to rock this fresh look.
