bottega veneta

This season Bottega Veneta’s inspiration was the great outdoors, so it’s easy to understand why the models look like they just went on a morning hike. From the looks of the flyaway après-sport knots, I have to believe that Tomas Maier had given thought to the multi-dimensional lives of women—a daily sprint of exercise, work, and family. The beauty team quickly crafted each look in less than five minutes by blasting hair with texturizing spray, creating a finger-raked part and then pulling pulling models’ ponytails halfway through an elastic to create a half-finished loop. The simpler the better. This look can certainly carry you from power training to power lunch. Click through to style notes to see more looks from the collection. –– Michelle Rotbart

holly fuulton

After checking out the Holly Fulton show last week, I’m convinced we should all be hitting the snooze button for an extra ten minutes. Hairstylist James Pecis deconstructed model’s blunt lengths and teased sections of hair into a quirky take on bedhead. Just remember those days of waking up late because you stayed up all night reading…ahem…partying.  While this look is probably too extreme for those not on the runway it certainly encourages us to hit the snooze button, forget the brush and let our outfits make the statement. The tawny hue of the acorn is the perfect inspiration for rich yet soft brown. This brunette shade is light enough to flatter natural blondes but deep enough to pair with the earthy hues dominating autumn’s palette. It’s soft gold undertones are especially flattering to blue eye and green eyes. Get the profession formulation in the style notes. –– Laura Martin

No two pixie cuts are exactly the same; each unique crop reveals the personality and style of the wearer. The best short shapes are quirky and versatile. They look good tousled or sleek. Over the years lots of celebrities have embraced super short styles, but the examples below stand out from the rest. Click the notes to see the quintessential pixies. Maybe one of them will inspire you. –– Laura Martin
