DolceGabbana

The sunny season maybe coming to an end, but Dolce & Gabbana’s spring 2016 collection has everyone lusting for a summer holiday in Italy. Postcards from Rome, Firenze, and Palermo decorated the mood boards backstage along with photos of Audrey Hepburn and Jayne Mansfield on holiday “in Italia.” The result was beautifully executed clothing paying homage to famed attractions in Italy. Hair-wise, models strutted down the runway in a variety of intricate headpieces including headbands, scarves, crowns and headphones embellished with fruits and flowers. While these delicate accessories were anything but low-maintenance, the soft chignons underneath were easy and rumpled. These looks will definitely look amazing stateside, but why not use them as an excuse to book a ticket to Portofino? oxblood

This rich, lush red shot through with rust and blue-tinged sanguine has the look of vital fluid. It’s this season’s answer to vibrant red, a shade both vivid and restrained. The earthy undertones make it a flattering choice for a surprising variety of skin tones and give it a chameleon-like quality. The shade will appear brighter against neutrals, softer on brights, and can feel warm or cool depending on your daily outfits. Click the style notes for the professional formulation. –– Laura Martin

age hair

There are lots of articles telling women how to dress and style themselves according to age, but are there really styles that age alone should rule out? Are certain cuts or colors the exclusive realm of the young? I’ll tell you what I think in the style notes. –– Laura Martin
