Last night, the pretty and the privileged got together to award themselves Golden Statuettes at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles. The best part of this glorified advertisement is of course the red carpet, where our leading ladies sway and sashay in the most gilded of gowns, and the hair and makeup sets the tone for the palettes of the spring season. Marking the spot for the monochrome beauty trend, Emma Roberts’ sleek strawberry blonde hair and matte red lips were elegant and chic. Featuring a a side-parted sweep with ribbons of soft curls, the strawberry tones are a great fit for Emma’s complexion, while with the hair tucked back on one side and falling forwards on the other, the admirer’s eyes are encouraged to take in the whole face-frame. Social media star Sofia Richie takes the lead role in he new Tommy Hilfiger Denim campaign, which depicts the life of urban millennials. Joined by Lucky Blue Smith and Anwar Hadid, brother of Gigi and Bella, it looks like generation Y are doing fine. Shot in sun-drenched LA, there’s a strong 70’s California Girl vibe to Sofia’s fashion and beauty look. The grown out bob with side-part and tousled texture points to another season artfully undone, lived-in looks. So grab your Wave Mist, peruse the images below, and get inspired to create your own distressed and cool styles for the spring and summer season.

We adore this look created by the ARROJO NYC editorial team for the Irina Vitjaz presentation at New York Fashion Week AW ’17. A vintage glamor wave, with one side tucked behind the ear and the other side tumbling forwards, over the neck and shoulders, a soft asymmetrical effect is created, one which encourages the eyes of an admirer to drift all across the face frame, taking in the model’s high jawline, sultry eyes, and perfect pout. Best of all, with the right tools and techniques you can recreate this look at home in 15-20 minutes. Learn how below.  Click for StyleNotes →

Shoulder-length hairstyles are usually styled sleek and smooth, or allowed to air dry for the natural texture of a wash and wear style. But adding bouncy volume is another great option. Extra oomph is always sexy, especially when paired with tousled waves. The image above is a great example. The off -center center part creates soft asymmetry for fulsome waves to hang deliciously off of the shoulder. This style works best on minimally layered cuts that sit on – or just above or below – the shoulder. Click through the style notes for tips on getting lots of body in mid-length hairstyles. Winter weather can get you feeling frumpy and down, which is likely why salons are busier in January than July. Exiting the hair salon with perfectly glossy and vibrant hair color perks us up when we feel shabby and pale. But returning to the salon two weeks later wondering where all that magic went makes us mad as hell. While professionals do sometimes get things wrong, the most common reason why color fades too quickly for our liking is the way we treat the hair before and after the dye job. Eight simple rules can give you longer lasting, brighter color. Following these steps will make your feel better about your beauty investment, and extend the time you have to go back to the salon for a touch up.  Get the scoop below. . .
