If you get a chance to get away somewhere warm for spring break, you don’t want to waste precious beach time messing with your hair. And if you don’t get the chance for a vacation, you can still take it easy by going for a laid back variation on your beauty routine. The perfect spring break hairstyle takes five minutes or less, looks cool and laid back, and keeps hair out of your face. These three styles are effortless, pretty, and oh so simple. Now all you need is a big bottle of sunscreen and a cute bikini. Click the notes for step-by-step instructions. –– Laura Martin

Half-Up Braid: Spray hair lightly with hydro mist and comb through. Use fingers to divide hair vertically, just in front of ear on each side. Braid front sections into simple 3-strand plaits. Wrap braids around back of head, folding ends under each other and pin into place with bobby pins.

Lazy French Braid: Spray quick bursts of refinish into roots to add volume. Run a dime of hair cream through ends to smooth. Slide pointer finger back into hair from temples to crown, creating a thick top section. Divide into three at the back of the head. Cross right over center left over center. Pick up another strip of hair from each side and add to the outer two sections. Cross in the same way, with minimal tension, right over center, left over center. Repeat to ends. Pin, tease, or use a small hair band to secure.

Half-Knot with Braid: Mist ends with healing oil and comb through. Divide hair by tracing fingers from in front of ears to bottom of crown. Pull top section into a ponytail, leaving some slack in roots and wrap into a loose knot, securing with bobby pins. On one side of remaining hair create a 3-strand braid. Secure with a small hair band.
