Jane, the fashion blogger behind Sea of Shoes, has always dazzled us with her fiery red hair. She usually leaves it down in sweet tousled waves, but we fell in love with her messy high bun. This loose top bun has just enough structure that it will serve its function and keep your hair out of your face, but it also looks messily sexy. We have become so accustomed to structured, gelled top buns, and we love that Jane makes hers look absolutely effortless. Find out how to get this style in the style notes.
Step: Towel dry hair to damp, then apply styling whip. Loosely blowdry with hands.
Step: Use a flat brush to direct hair to the top of the head, then pull it into a loose ponytail.
Step: Pull hair through a hair donut, then fan it out around the donut. (If you don’t have a hair donut, you can also use a rolled up sock with the toe cut off.) Pin hair in place underneath the hair donut to create the bun.
Step: Randomly pull out a few strands of hair for the messy disheveled look.
