Air-drying your hair is something everyone wishes they could do. The simple fact that you don’t have to do anything more than shower and walk out the door is a very enticing thing. Summer is the perfect time to get air drying so click the notes for how you can become heat free this summer. –– Kelly Rowe

Get a texture treatment.

Keratin and waving systems cut back on styling times. Chemical services have gotten much more gentle, giving more people with different types of hair the opportunity to try them. Keratin straightening is not permanent but it will last about 3 months helping you get through the whole summer. A waving system like the American Wave, will help you get beachy waves that are controlled, and require little to no work to style.

Learn to love leave in conditioners.

There are a lot of styling products but the most under used one is a leave-in conditioner. Leave-in conditioners can take you from fighting your strands with product to loving silkiness. Frizz comes from dry strands, adding moisture before the hair dries out allows you to walk out of your house with wet hair and have frizz free tresses later. For lightweight moisture use cream whip for a bit more hydration, then add some daily conditioner to damp hair and leave-in.

Use better shampoo.

Great styling starts in the shower. Using whatever shampoo is laying around will not give you the results your are looking for. You have to plan for your air dry. A shampoo like curl hydration will give you moisture and a bit of control. Try to steer clear of clarifying shampoo as they will rough up the cuticle a bit and encourage frizz.
