Meet Gianna, the cutest girl in the world! As part of Breast Cancer Awareness month (don’t forget to do your bit!), The Wendy Williams Show asked Nick Arrojo to come on the show to cut off long locks that can then be given to this worthy cause. As part of the service, the kind candidates who donate their tresses then get to go to ARROJO NYC, where Nick or one of his studio’s master stylists give them a fab new style. And although her long hair was beautiful, both six year old Gianna and her mom wanted her locks to be more manageable, lighter and fresher. So after she did her bit with Nick on the show, she was whisked downtown, where she was pampered by some of the best stylists in the country. Read style notes for the inside scoop on this makeover…
Gianna and her mom talked to me about taking the weight out of her hair, so she could have more of a ‘wash and wear’ style. Gianna is very fashion-forward, and she knew she wanted an asymmetrical, short to long shape.
The best tool for taking weight out is the razor. I razor-cut her hair into a modern, A-line bob with a strong asymmetrical line. Going from short to long is a great way to create a nice, open face-frame. We can see from the pictures that the new style draws attention to her pretty eyes more naturally.
For styling, I prepped hair with set and style spray, which helps to add body and smoothness. Then I applied some styling whip for added luster and softness. I blow-dried with a paddle brush. Going from roots to ends, the idea was to make it nice and smooth, with soft sheen.
To finish, I applied a very light film of shine spray along the hair’s top surface. Gianna is such a princess, I had to add some sparkle! –– Hair Cut & Style Notes by Victoria Ducane stylist ARROJO NYC
