Top knots were a big trend last season and for good reason: The high shape is flattering and simple to create. Over the top hairstyles have changed this season from tight and messy to sleek and voluminous. The extra width and classic finish give these styles polished appeal that makes them perfect for office and evening. To keep the look from feeling stuffy, try adding a bow, jeweled headband or other playful accessory. –– Laura Martin
Step: Begin by pulling the hair into a very high ponytail and secure with band. Mist with holding spray to add shine and catch loose hairs.
Step: Take a small section from the underside of the ponytail and wrap up and around the band, securing into the base with a pin.
Step: Mist the ponytail with holding spray and backcomb lightly, then smooth out the top surface with an oval flat brush, tuck ends under and pin. Spread out into a fan or twist into a bun, taking care to keep hair loose for volume retention.
