Hair color trends tend to follow nature, getting brighter and richer with the change of the seasons, and vivd tones are no exception. Bold hues are becoming more saturated this fall: pink becomes fuchsia, heather turns violet, and sea foam converts to emerald. These more intense shades last longer than their pastel counterparts and look great with other trendy shades like golden blonde, cinnamon red, and walnut brown. Read on for tips on wearing these bright and beautiful colors. –– Laura Martin
Step 1: Vibrant colors are the most flattering when anchored with a natural hue. Begin by selecting a rich base shade that is complementary to your favorite vibrant tone. Ask your colorist about the best combinations.
Step 2: For a temporary fix, try hair chalk applied to select strands for instant brightness. For a more permeant version, try a long lasting direct dye like Goldwell Elumen.
Step 3: To maintain vibrancy at home, wash with color save shampoo and conditioner. Use protective thickening lotion to protect your shade from the sun, and always dry hair completely to seal the cuticle, locking in the tone.
