In hair as in life, balance is key, the best hairstyles blend strong and subdued elements to create visual complexity. Dusky mauve and rose good hues soften the lines of this edgy cut. Disconnected shorter lengths at the sides and back contrast the long textured top and dramatic swooped fringe. The feminine color lends softness to the bold shape for a look that is both pretty and punk. Read on for steps to achieving the look. –– Laura Martin
Step 1: Ask your stylist for a disconnect pixie cut with very short length below the parietal ridge and longer lengths at the top and front that falls over the sides. Ask for texturized ends which allow for versatile styling, pieciness and a soft visual blend.
Step 2: The color shown here must be applied over pale blonde. Ask your colorist to lighten your hair to platinum. Tone with silver beige blended with violet, pink, or rose shades. For a temporary version, use hair chalk.
Step 3: To style at home, apply a nickel of hair creme and tousle with fingers to remove moisture. Mist fringe with protective thickening lotion and smooth with a flat iron. Finish with a dime of texture paste, warmed in hands, run through from roots to ends. Smooth sides flat and tousle the top.
