Whether you get your hair colored by a professional or do it yourself in your bathroom chances are that on occasion the results will come out less than perfect. Hair color relies on complicated chemical processes, and it’s hard to talk about (just think about how many shades of red there are). Sometimes a new color just takes some getting used to, but if a few days pass and you still feel dissatisfied try one of these simple home solutions. –– Laura Martin
If your hair is too dark…try washing with a clarifying shampoo. These products, which are designed to remove buildup from the hair, can strip away a bit of pigment, lightening hair slightly without bleach.
If your hair is too light…try adding a bit of pigment with a color depositing conditioner. Davines Alchemic in chocolate, tobacco, or golden will add a touch of extra depth and tone.
If your hair is ashy and dull… it may just need moisture, not a new color. Condition with hair repair mask and style with healing oil for a shinier, brighter look.
