The two biggest hair trends from spring/summer 2012 are colored streaks (a la Lady Gaga, Coco Rocha, Jamie King and, well, practically every other trend-setting celebrity) and braids (think braided headbands, fishtail braids, messy braids, inside out French braids and more). Paired together, though, and your hair goes from merely trendy to truly epic. Click through to find out more!
For all our you out there hesitant (or just damn terrified) of taking the plunge and permanently (or even just semi-permanently) coloring a portion of your hair in a bright, bold hue, take inspiration from Jason Wu’s Spring/Summer show where Aveda lead stylist Odile Gilbert created looping braids and twists, finished with a chiffon ‘flower.’
Inspired by the 1970s, with slick hair in the front and a mélange of braids and twists incorporating scraps of fabric gathered into a flower in the back, the simple yet sophisticated style, is a fun, unique way to spruce up your springtime ‘do and an easy way to add a splash of non-permanent color to your strands.
Jason Wu may have gone for hair-hued ribbon, but try braiding in a ribbon of hot pink, deep coral or turquoise instead. Fun, on-trend and temporary – need we say more?
