Pictured here for the online fashion app WhoYouAre, Dita Von Teese continues to roll out her signature burlesque look. A stylized, shoulder-dusting glamor wave, her tresses are a quintessential example of timeless elegance, beauty and grace. If you’re planning on dressing up like a burlesque dancer, or indeed a 50s film star, you can learn how to recreate this hairstyle in the notes.
Step: Towel dry hair to damp and liberally apply protective thickening lotion to prep hair for heat styling. Add set and style spray for hold, support and shine.
Step: Create big curls all over with a large barrel curling iron or wand. Use pin-curl clips to pin these curls to the head as they set. Once whole head is curled, apply fierce firm hold hairspray and allow curls to cool before releasing from clips.
Step: Gently brush out curls until they fall into a waterfall of tumbling romantic waves and curls.
Step: Using outside arch of eyebrow as a guide, create a deep side part. Pin short side behind ear. Have the long side fall forwards and to the side, allowing romantic waves to tumble round the face, neck and shoulders.
Step: Mist finished style with more fierce to secure the look and control flyaways.
