This style created by Amanda Jenkins, Master Stylist and Artistic Director of ARROJO Cosmetology School, is part of a collection titled “Transmogrify” that shows the magical transformation of modern textures. Long gone are the poodle perms and stiff curls of the 1980s; they’ve been replaced by the timeless elegance, beauty and grace of tousle, flow and soft sexy movement. Epitomizing the change, this long layer shape with full, deep set bangs and natural-looking ‘C’ shaped swirls (created using American Wave), is typical of the look the women and girls of New York now prefer. “American Wave is a professional salon service to create soft, natural-looking, wave and curl patterns, bounce, body and movement. It’s a service many of my clients in New York have adopted, making waves and curls a part of their image and identity. For this shoot, I wanted to use American Wave to show how texture trends have evolved into cool, hip and sexy styles. The cut is a classic long layer with lots of space created to allow the texture to flow. For styling, I already had the shape and texture from the American Wave so it was really just about enhancing it. I used a mixture of curl enhancer and curl control, scrunched into the hair as it air dried, just to help give the style definition and bounce.” –– Amanda Jenkins
