Ah the Met Gala, a celebrity gal’s chance to play dress up. This year gala’s theme “China: Through the Looking Glass” inspired bold lips, winged eyeliner, and hairstyles adorned with flowers. Chrissy Teigen and Selena Gomez added some Asian influence with exotic orchids. Diane Kruger and Georgia May Jagger chose sprays of smaller blooms to accent their looks. Blossoms of all sizes bring fresh beauty to spring hairstyles. Click the style notes for tips on getting the look. –– Laura Martin
Step: If using Fresh flowers, select hearty blooms with thick petals like orchids, or clusters of small flowers on a sturdy base like lilacs. These flowers will look fresh for hours and won’t wilt in sunlight or break in the wind.
Step: Leave enough stem to attach the flowers securely. For added support, wrap ribbon around the stems. This will also help the flowers stay cool and hydrated.
Step: Anchor into place with bobby pins, or glue the ribbon-wrapped stems onto a headband, barrette or clip. This will give you creative freedom and keep your flower’s firmly in place.
