Today we invite Senior Colorist at ARROJO studio, NYC, Mariesa Ferraro, to walk us through the top hair trends at Cannes Film Festival…
Despite the glamor and the glitz, Cannes Film Festival is, for me, more about the hair, the makeup, and the dresses than the movies! This year, hair on the red carpet followed a recurring theme of vintage glamor looks. From updos to waves these Hollywood starlets were channelling old Hollywood with perfectly polished, urbane hair, and understated makeup looks. It sounds simple, but the overriding theme was pretty and feminine, with a nod to the past. Next time you have a special occasion to go to, watch an old movie and use the leading lady’s hair as inspiration for your distinctive ‘do.
Step: The round paddle brush is great for smoothing waves. You can create texture by roller-setting and then brush out the set with paddle brush. That’s a great way to get smooth, vintage hair.
Step: You can also use the round paddle brush to brush hair smooth, and then up into a sophisticated updo.
Step: I like styling creme and set & style spray for prepping hair for a set. Remember, you can set with rollers or a curling iron. If using an iron, curl hair and then use pin-curl clips to pin hair to head as it cools. This gives you a stronger set.
