Light red shades are a challenge. If they’re too soft they look washed out, but too much pigment and they end up looking dark or florescent. A perfectly balanced shade should appear almost luminescent, both bright and sheer, radiating soft light. This pale tangerine hue dotted with wisps of cotton-candy pink achieves the perfect balance. Get the formula and tips on application in the style notes. –– Laura Martin
Application: Divide a triangular section by drawing a line from the apex to each temple. Within this triangle apply formula 1 too widely spaced, woven sections, isolating with foil. Apply formula 2 to all remaining hair suing a virgin application technique for even tone. Process 30 minutes or until highlights are a very pale yellow. Shampoo, towel dry and apply formula 3 to lightened areas. Process 5 minutes, rinse and condition.
