Mahogany brown is a perfect warm weather option for raven haired ladies. The rich, dimensional hue works well on most skin tones because it contains hints of both warm copper and cool eggplant within a burnished golden base. In bright summer sun these tones will sparkle and dance, for a luminous effect. It fades less than more vibrant reds, and pairs well with a variety of other colors, so it’s easy to highlight or lowlight when you’re ready for a change. Read on for the formula and expert tips to getting the shade. –– Laura Martin
Tips: Permanent color with ten volume developer will give you the richest, truest shade on lighter levels. Demi-permanent can achieve a similar hue but the sheerer coverage will show less of the color’s vibrancy and complexity. Use heavy saturation and apply the shade from roots to ends. When touching up, recolor the roots with the same formula and glaze ends with a slightly lighter shade to prevent over-deposit.
