Glowing scarlet looks surprisingly ethereal paired with a diffused A-line. Two in vogue looks –– bob cut and red color –– come together for a jaw-dropping, desirable style. The weightless tips around the face give an open feeling, and add softness to the strong lines of the cut. The vibrant color adds the warm glow that feels right for the seasonal change. There’s plenty here to take from, whether your own style is edgy or classic. Read on for tips on adapting this vanguard look to your own perfect fit. –– Laura Martin
Step: Cuts that fall between chin and shoulder are a great option for going shorter while still having styling options. Textured and lightly layered versions of mid length shapes work whether smooth or curly, tousled or sleek. Pair with a wide headband for a flirty flapper look, or tease the crown for a mod adaptation.
Step: Titian color can work for everyone as long as it’s the right shade. If you’re nervous about going bright, start with a translucent copper glaze or some strawberry highlights. Pick shades that complement your wardrobe. If you own a lot of navy, gray, and violet go for a berry hue; if you like red, brown and olive, go for something warmer.
Step: To get weightless, breezy texture, apply volume foam to roots and styling whip through mid-lengths and ends. Dry with a paddle brush to smooth the hair without eliminating fullness. Use refinish dry shampoo to aerate and fluff after drying.
