A pop culture icon of the 1970s and 1980s, Farrah Fawcett’s red bikini and fabulous hairstyle is a cultural apotheosis. With the texture, tousle and flow of hairstyles from that era now at the height of fashion (think of the center-parts, the beach waves and curls celebs are wearing), we felt the moment ripe to pay homage to an Angel. The trick to the success of the look is the kick and flip and fun in the front, which creates a beautiful face frame. Nowadays, this is easier to do. Some creative curling iron action that creates flowing waves of shape and movement gives the glamor of Farrah. Check the Style Notes for a more detailed explanation…
Step: Towel-dry hair to damp and apply set & style spray liberally through the shape.
Step: Rough-dry to about 80% dry. To do, lift hair off root and toss from side to side with hands while applying heat.
Step: Mist front and sides –– anywhere you want to create flips –– with thermal protector.
Step: Use a mid-size curling iron to create outward kicks of movement in these sections. Wind sections of hair onto iron, hold for ten seconds; release. If the waves look too full or forced, simply use hands to break them up a little. Create a romantic, whimsical, undulating face-frame.
Step: Mist finished look with holding spray to support and shine.
