This impressive style is highly textured but easy to accomplish. Combining two classic techniques for a whole new finish, this look is accomplished by wrapping a fishtail braid into a bun or chignon. Whether spiralled or folded flat, this simple style transforms a small updo into a big statement. Both classic and romantic, the look pairs well with day and evening attire. Read the style notes for fast and easy steps to creating the shape. — Laura Martin

Step: Pull hair back into a low ponytail and secure with a cloth band. Use holding spray to control flyways or refinish dry shampoo to rough up the surface.

Step: Braid the pony into a fishtail braid. Start with two sections, take a small piece of hair from the right and add to the left, then repeat on the opposite side, separating a section from the left and adding it to the right. Continue working in this manner to the ends of the hair and finish with a small rubber band.

Step: Wrap the braid up and around the base of the ponytail securing into desired shape with bobby pins. Use fingers to loosen or refine texture and finish with holding spray.
