Whether you prefer big blowouts, air-dried waves, or smooth styles, hair that’s easy to work with is essential. The best cuts look great curled or straight, fresh from the shower or slept on overnight. To get a cut that looks great under any conditions you’ll need a shape that has structure without heaviness. Learn more about achieving flawless versatility in the style notes. –– Laura Martin
Step: Start with structure. The most versatile cuts have classic, geometric architecture. A clean outline is essential.
Step: Add layers. Remove bulk and add volume by adding layers to your hair. Short to long layers give hair the most movement and look interesting even without styling. Try face framing layers, or a short cut with layers focused on the crown.
Step: Remove bulk. If you have thick or coarse hair texturizing methods like dry cutting or razor tipping will remove weight, for faster, easier styling.
