Hats at the beach returned to vogue as the aging effects of the sun became widely known, but it’s been quite a while since we’ve seen them on the street. This summer, however, hats have made a comeback, bringing glamour and refinement to the season’s ensembles. This hat does wonders for elevating warm weather looks, and comes in a variety of colors and textures suitable for every hair type and skin tone, all while protecting your epidermis. Read on for tips on how to wear this fabulous accessory. –– Laura Martin
Step: When selecting your hat, pick a color that complements the tones in your hair and a size that is proportional to both your hair’s length and your body structure. If you’re tall, you can go as wide and floppy as you want, if you’re petite, the width of the brim should fall a few inches short of your shoulders.
Step: Make sure your hair shows under your hat, if you have short hair, wear bangs forward and style the edges of your cut onto the face or flip up around the edges of the brim. If you have long hair, wear it in front of the shoulders, and consider adding some waves with a styling wand.
Step: Place the hat so that it sits just behind the hairline, not over your forehead, worn this way your face will be framed, not concealed by the wide, rounded edge.
