Major beauty companies—like fashion designers—release trend collections twice a year. Some collections play it safe, offering looks that are so wearable they are hardly inspiring while others show extreme styles that are nearly impossible to translate to street wear. It’s a rare thing when one of these collections hits the perfect balance between innovation and accessibility, but Trevor Sorbie’s Cohesion does it beautifully. The cuts are variations on classic shapes, but with unusual details and surprising texture combinations; the colors are soft and natural, unifying the contrasting elements in the shapes (a few of the looks have the opposite: edgy color and basic cut, but I don’t like them nearly as much). The result feels very modern and cool, but understated and totally wearable. See the rest of the collection in the notes. –– Laura Martin
