Summer braids are everywhere, and we just can’t get enough! They are feminine, flirty and fashionable –– and play into the modern trend for a disheveled, lived-in look. The halo braid is one our favorites. A natural take on the headband, it’s a chic option any time you don’t have the time or inclination to blowdry, and want to keep hair off the face. We love how Jennifer has paired a whimsical entwine with a tough leather top.
Step: If hair in too clean, halo braids are hard to fix in place; you need some texture and grip. Prep dry hair with Refinish dry shampoo. Get it into roots to add texture and grit.
Step: Pull hair back into a low pony and plait chunky sections all the way around. Secure with a clear headband, so it doesn’t show. Alternatively, if hair is shorter, you can create this braid by brushing hair towards the front and braiding from ear to ear.
Step: Wrap it around and secure with booby pins.
Step: Mist with holding spray to hold. Arbitrarily yet artfully pull out a few pieces here and there to add to the disheveled, lived-in feel.
