A Chic Sleek Ponytail by Dianna Agron Who Wore It Best: Blunt Bangs and a Bun

Katherine Heigl, The Blonde Or The Brunette?

BLONDE, BRUNETTE, CELEBRITY, COLOR, CUT, EVERYDAY, NOTED, SHORT, STYLE

She’s funny, cool, and beautiful. A shining star of young Hollywood. Her style adds vintage glamor to all the dazzle. Yet what we love most about Katherine is her ability to swing effortlessly from blonde to brunette. Blonde gives her that wow factor look of a Marilyn or Madonna –– yet with contrasting sultry brown eyes –– while the raven gives her the earthy and natural appeal of the girl next door. Whichever you prefer, the power of a great color transformation puts Katherine in two different lights. A new hue can do the same for you. Read on for notes on changing your look.

Step: For most, going from dark to light requires a ‘bleach and tone’ color service. It’s one of the trickiest, so don’t do it at home.

Step: Other options include ‘high lift blonde’ color services. This modern technique lightens without bleach. For mid-level browns it is often enough to meet blonde ambition.

Step: Talk to your colorist about your options, and consider your complexion, eye color and wardrobe before making big color changes.

Step: The other factor is color tone. Do you want to be warm or cool?  To be blonde with warm tone, strawberry or crimson are typical colors. For blonde with a cool tone, then whitish-ash blondes are a perfect fit.

Step: For going from light to dark, for a new brunette ‘do, you can choose a warm tone like ruby red or chestnut, or you can choose a cool tone like frosty brown or caramel.
