This is a pleasing look from Katy Perry. Spotted at the Smurf’s 2 Premiere, her family-friendly ensemble is crowned by hair with glamorous retro curls, asymmetrical shape, and a curvaceous side-sweep. Locks pushed behind the ear on one side and flowing forward on the other is a great face-framer, while flouncy ringlets are always romantic and feminine. It’s nice to see Katy’s natural raven-hair, too; the jet-black hue makes a striking and beautifying contrast to her piercing blue eyes. With a few flicks of a curling wand, anyone with shoulder-length or longer hair can recreate this red carpet look. For our tips, click style notes.

Step: Blowdry most of the moisture out of clean, wet hair. Generously apply, set and style spray and protective thickening lotion through strands. Make a deep side part. Comb long side of part over and across and tuck the short side behind the ear.

Step: Leave hair straight at the root. About four-to-six inches off the root (level with eyes is a good indicator), use a curling iron or wand to create shapely curls. After each curl is made, use a pin-curl clip to pin to head and mist with primp working spray. Allow all pin-curls to cool.

Step: Release pin-curl clips and gently brush out the curls into a flowing, cascading shape.

Step: Mist healing oil over finished style to boost gloss and shine, while protecting against flyaways, frizz, and humidity.
