Kim Kardashian has played around with blonde before but never to this extreme. She recently showed off her blonde locks in France. By blonde we mean platinum and I’m not sure how I feel about it. How do you feel about it? Click the notes for my thoughts. –– Kelly Rowe

What I like…

I like that it is a solid shade. Solid is in and looks modern. It’s all about invisible dimension. This means that highlights and lowlights are in the hair but they are only a half shade or one shade different than the base color. They are also extremely fine. This makes the hair look thicker, shinier, healthier, and more natural.

What I don’t like….

Basically everything else. This is a big mistake to my eyes. There is a chance that this is an in between shade on the road to a final color but I feel we may not be that lucky. Everything about this is wrong for Kim. The blonde is a completely off shade for her. The yellow tones in her skin are causing a clash with the yellow tones in her hair. It’s making her look washed out.  It needs to be a couple levels darker if she wants to maintain the warmness or she needs to go the other way and bring it up a level and cool it down, making it icy.

It looks damaged. Damage is inevitable when going from a very dark shade to a very light shade, but you can minimize damage but doing it slowly. This transition was a one shot deal and you can tell. Her ends are thinned where the hair has broken and she has a bit of lift at the root and limp hair everywhere else. These are all classic signs of doing too much at once.

Her features are too dark. Dark brows and light hair is fine. It’s actually a trend. Kim’s are too dark, and the reason it looks like this is because she has dark eyes surrounded by rows of eyelash extensions. If she is going to maintain this look she has to lighten her brows a bit, or at least lighten up the eye makeup.
