Tennis ace Maria Sharapova gave the world a curve ball with this picture, posted on Facebook. Apparently, she traded in her long locks for a new, shorter style. Later, however, she revealed it was only a wig! Still, it gives us a chance to check her out in short hair…and she looks great!
We think it helps Maria be a little more punk, have a bit more edge. Aesthetically speaking, the soft asymmetry helps to open up her face, lifting cheekbones and chin, lips and eyes. Tousled, not slick, it’s more East Village beatnik than tennis pro on the go.
Step: If you are thinking of going long to short, remember you can test the look with a wig.
Step: If you want it to look lived-in and real, have it cut by a professional.
Step: Wear it out and gauge the reaction.
Step: To get the cut for real, ask your stylist for a short and shaggy cropped cut with soft asymmetry and sweeping bangs.
