For several seasons undone waves and beachy tendrils were the it look on the runways, even for the fall season. I’m all for messy texture but sometimes a girl wants something a bit more polished, so I was excited to spot several designers showing preened twists and updos. From Altuzarra’s woven chignons to Prada’s embellished high ponytails, the best inspiration for autumn/winter 2015 were the fresh and statement making updos. And with the holiday season just about to kick off, it’s a great time to put a new day-to-night style in your locker. bond

Elegant and mysterious, James Bond was the original Don Draper, but better. Over the years each of the men who’ve taken on the role have brought a unique twist to the signature Bond look. Connery’s bond was charming and sported a classic Rat-Pack coif. Roger Moore tops his slick superhero vibe with a hairstyle reminiscent of Clark Kent. Pierce Brosnan’s sly, winking Bond has a slightly softer style. Daniel Craig’s tough, cool bond wears a shorter, leaner shape. Pick your Bond and channel your mysterious side with a dapper new cut. edgingColor placements come and go the same way skirt lengths do, without a care for what is flattering for individual people. The color fads of late—ombre, baby lights, gray and violet—are wonderful for medium to thick hair, but none of them work very well for fine and thin strands which do not react well to lightening and do not need diffused edges. What fine hair needs is structure, and this placement, which emphasizes the edges, adds strength and solidity to wispy hair. It’s the perfect color for anyone who wants more substantial hair, a crisper look. Learn more in the notes. –– Laura Martin

Pink is one of those fantasy colors that is loved by nearly everyone. You may be the type that would never try a fantasy shade but you can probably appreciate this one, and if you decided to try one pink this would probably be it. So why is everyone so drawn to this shade? Click the notes. –– Kelly Rowe

I am obsessed with hair color; it’s the reason I became a colorist. Long before I actually knew what I was doing I was a color scientist in my bathroom or kitchen coming up with good way to color my friends hair or my own. Were they perfect? No, but they got the job done and that was all that mattered at the time. You would think my obsession would make me a perfectionist now and while I am for other people, I am almost the opposite for myself. Click the notes for more. ––  Kelly Rowe
