hair tuck

As a big fan and self-proclaimed expert in runway and street style, I’m obsessed with the hair tuck. As in that nonchalant look where a fashionista’s hair is loosely half-tucked into a scarf or sweater and she can’t be bothered to pull it all the way out of the neck hole.  And though it may seem like a casual detail, this style trick actually takes some work to achieve. Care to learn how to achieve this it-girl staple?  It’s the perfect time of year to rock this look, so click through to the notes to get the know-how. –– Michelle Rotbart

gray hair

In the battle against gray there are many players. Permanent, demi, and semi are the most common solutions, though some people prefer “natural” dyes like henna. Until recently those were all the options, but now one company offers a different solution. Hairprint claims to “restore innate color to the hair,” in other words the product supposedly reads your hair and replaces your natural pigment to perfectly duplicate your natural hair color. If this sounds too good to be true…that’s because it is. Scientifically there’s simply no way that a product can sense the natural color of a person’s hair. So what does this product actually do, and is it worth trying? Click the notes for my take. –– Laura Martin

shag

Shaggy styles are great for thick haired ladies, but if your strands are naturally fine and thin the shape can be too aggressive. The heavy layers of a traditional shag make less bountiful tresses look thin and scraggly. This cut is the solution. The asymmetric bang and aggressive face-framing give the hair a heavily layered feel without taking structure away from the ends. wake up with great hair

Let’s be honest, we all want amazing tresses when we wake up in the morning, but the trade-off of getting up early to have perfectly primped hair is hardly alluring. With full days and late nights, we’re all lucky if we don’t sleep through our alarms and throw up a pony mid-morning coffee. Luckily there are a few ways of cutting down the primping process and getting great hair every time. luscious fig

The fig has a dense meaty texture and robust flavor that are captured perfectly in its appearance. Dark skin, creamy meat and deep red juicy pulp give the fruit a fleshy, exotic beauty. A dark violet-brown hair color accented with tendrils of rosy platinum, this color shares its inspiration’s unconventional appeal. Complex-looking, but surprisingly easy to achieve this style is a perfect for the girl who has an unconventional, but understated aesthetic.
