There’s a new texture trend emerging, it seems, almost by accident. The combination of air drying, shine-enhancing products, and lighter, fluid cuts is creating glossy, separated, stringy texture. The look mimics the way hair ribbons after being blown about by a blustery day. It’s more controlled than frizz, but has the same cool, un-done quality. Learn to create this fun new texture in the style notes. ––  Laura Martin

Step: Massage a handful of styling whip into roots, then scrunch a handful of cream whip into ends. Allow hair to air dry, or diffuse to enhance and expand texture.

Step: Mist ends with shine spray and use finger to break up curls. Spray roots with quick bursts of refinish, adding matte texture and volume.

Step: Mist a section of ends with fierce, then tousle to create separation. Repeat until distinct ribbons emerge. Continue to spray and tousle throughout all remaining hair.
